Resources

Hullo. I have a huge database over on Reddit that could supply Leftypedia immensely. My goal right now is to copy most of the resources to here in case somebody shuts down Reddit or specifically the community that’s hosting the compendium. I could however make a userpage and just immediately dump the raw source code there if you think that that would be more helpful or worthwhile than just going back and forth from Reddit to Leftypedia, plus we could use that to ‘cross out’ links now included somewhere in the mainspace. The only problem is that I don’t know how you would feel about including libgen links anywhere in this website. —Anarcho-Bolshevik (talk) 21:25, 20 August 2019 (UTC)

Thanks a ton for the data. Copying it over into a userpage first would be a good way to do it. You're free to host the unedited source code temporarily, as long as the libgen links are replaced with regular citations in the near future. It can't be a permanent thing, I don't want to risk the web hosting provider receiving any DMCA requests, even illegitimate ones.

Done, and today I linked to our project in a new socialist community. On a side note, is there any chance that you could exempt me and Dessalines from the CAPTCHA programme? Because it’s really annoying. —Anarcho-Bolshevik (talk) 00:19, 28 August 2019 (UTC)
Done. Great suggestion to exempt trustworthy users from the CAPTCHA programme. I'll check out your community as well. --CyberSynGang (talk) 02:20, 29 August 2019 (UTC)
I read this for a second and albeit this is a bit off topic but whats the captcha programme? am I excluded from it? --Karlov, Commie Spidey (talk) 02:01, 1 September 2019 (UTC)
Normally users have to fill out a captcha (one of thUserose Google "are you a robot?" thingies) when they're making an edit. It's to prevent spam. I made a usergroup for users I think are making a lot of good contributions so they don't have to do it any more. You're in it. :) --CyberSynGang (talk) 12:57, 1 September 2019 (UTC)
Oh ok thanks. Sorry to bother! --Karlov, Commie Spidey (talk) 14:32, 1 September 2019 (UTC)
I can confirm that user:Milena-Celeste is trustworthy too. You might want to add her when you get the chance. — Anarcho-Bolshevik (talk) 11:57, 10 December 2019 (UTC)

Thanks for converting that code for me! But the particular version that you converted is out‐of‐date now. This is the current one.

I thought about simply transferring my projects to Leftypedia rather than using them as to‐do lists. I think that it would be somewhat redundant to make a general debunking piece when the main page entries could already take care of that, but if people are receptive to the idea anyway, why not? — Anarcho-Bolshevik (talk) 12:46, 9 October 2019 (UTC)

I've transferred the anticommunismkills piece into an essay, since I'm not sure if the analysis is really fit for a mainspace encyclopedic entry. Still have to add the miscellaneous links at the bottom of the article. Maybe something similar can be done with the Venezuela piece? Maybe that piece is more proper for the mainspace though.
I'm also investigating whether I can bulk translate the links on the compendium page into proper references using the Zotero Translation Client, the output wouldn't be perfect by far, but it would still do a massive amount of the work that needs to be done. --CyberSynGang (talk) 15:27, 9 October 2019 (UTC)

Image licensing

Hello, I noticed that the image upload tool doesn't let you select a license for the image. Now, I see that this isn't the main goal of this project, but I think it would make uploading easier for images that require attribution, so we don't get in trouble for not properly attributing. If you think that this makes sense, I could make some licensing templates (see Wikimedia Commons for example of what kinds of templates), but you would need to add the options to the menu. If it doesn't make sense at this stage of the project, I'll wait and do something else meanwhile.--RandomSovietKid (talk) 16:43, 2 October 2019 (UTC)

dead link

Vermont

I should warn you that User:Vermont is an account impersonating a WP Admin and the owner of said account is likely a reactionary based on edits made on other wikis. [1], [2], [3], [4] RandomUser34 (talk) 19:22, 19 October 2019 (UTC)

Impostor wiki

It has come to my attention that somebody has created a fake leftypedia, and stolen the logo. Not only that, but they also stole credit for creating the wiki. RandomUser34 (talk) 02:25, 25 October 2019 (UTC)

RethaRackley Chelovek

who was that person? Why were they banned? - karlovious but at school --199.235.192.99 16:46, 6 November 2019 (UTC)

They were banned because their account name + userpage followed the exact same pattern as the spambots that previously spammed Marxistpedia and led me to set up this site. They weren't a real person. I'm investigating options to easily deal with them in the future. --CyberSynGang (talk) 19:17, 6 November 2019 (UTC)
Don’t forget to zap this one too! —Anarcho-Bolshevik (talk) 14:17, 12 November 2019 (UTC)
Ok ja. makes sense! --Karlov, Commie Spidey (talk) 02:51, 13 November 2019 (UTC)

Here is some troublesome content that’s been up for almost a week now. Perhaps you should consider expanding the list of administrators. —Anarcho-Bolshevik (talk) 05:16, 1 December 2019 (UTC)

I'll give you the privileges necessary to ban non-trusted users. --CyberSynGang (talk) 20:00, 2 December 2019 (UTC)
I truly want to know what this was. - K.A. KARLOV BUT SCHOOL--199.235.192.99 19:14, 10 December 2019 (UTC)
I'll see if I can still find it and copy it into a Pastebin. Also, important notice, after the spam attack today I've chosen to turn this wiki into a moderated wiki. Changes have to pass through a moderation interface before they are made public, so spam will no longer be an issue. All "trusted users" are now "autoconfirmed" (don't have to pass the interface) and have moderator rights.
Kool. Dont autoconfirm IPs, even though im the only person who appears to ever be Anon on here - K.A. Karlov once again --199.235.68.185 15:17, 13 December 2019 (UTC)
Yeah, CyberSynGang could you add user:CommieKarlovy as an approved contributor too? Anarcho-Bolshevik (talk) 12:31, 14 December 2019 (UTC)
Oh yeah sorry I thought I got everyone. --CyberSynGang (talk) 18:07, 15 December 2019 (UTC)
Finally! Thank you! --K.A. Karlov (talk) 18:11, 15 December 2019 (UTC)
Here's the Pastebin as promised: https://pastebin.com/2dufZ8h1 --CyberSynGang (talk) 07:06, 13 December 2019 (UTC)

Bots

Nother round o bots. also can you have me not have to be moderated? cheers --Karlov, Commie Spidey (talk) 14:48, 14 December 2019 (UTC)

Is there any way that we can cut down on the number of spam accounts being created? I thought that our software was already supposed to be taking care of this, but it isn’t doing a good job. I’m getting tired of suppressing these damn things. —Anarcho-Bolshevik (talk) 11:43, 9 February 2020 (UTC)

Are PDFs and/or my own papers okay sources?

for Stereotypes of the left, in the "Take all your stuff" section I cited and used a quote from my own paper. Is that OK? In the Trotskyism or Leninism page i cited the ToL pdf itself. Is that alright too? I am just making sure. --K.A. Karlov (talk) 19:10, 15 December 2019 (UTC)

Sorry for the late reply. You should put a link there of some sort, but I wouldn't use any sources you've written yourself as a reference. --CyberSynGang (talk) 08:45, 20 December 2019 (UTC)
Alright. I'll remove the reference. --K.A. Karlov (talk) 15:44, 20 December 2019 (UTC)

Category:Pages where template include size is exceeded

I don’t understand what this error means, but it shows up on my compendium now and it’s screwing up the citations.

Should I just make separate pages for each section? I always felt that the page took too long to load anyway, so it would be no big loss; I would just have to crank out a bunch of redirections. —Anarcho-Bolshevik (talk) 00:13, 26 January 2020 (UTC)

It means too many templates are included in the page. This is probably because the citations, which use templates that also call subtemplates for all kinds of technical stuff. Ends up being very taxing for the server if there isn't a limit of this kind. The quickest solution is probably to split it up into separate pages, yeah. --CyberSynGang (talk) 01:45, 27 January 2020 (UTC)
