Ultra-leftism,[a] shortened to ultra, is a term, usually pejorative, used by communists to refer to tendencies and individuals regarded as taking a dogmatic or extremist line further "left" than the rest of the movement.
The term is commonly applied to left communists such as Bordigists, but is also used by some Marxist–Leninists to refer to Maoists and Hoxhaists for their failure to support "actually existing socialism" like modern China.
