The Party of Labor of Albania (PLA)[a], known as the Communist Party of Albania between 1941 to 1948, was a Marxist–Leninist communist party which ruled the People's Socialist Republic of Albania[b] as the sole legal party of the socialist state. Enver Hoxha served as First Secretary of the Party from 1941 to 1985, when he died.
After Hoxha's death, his role as leader of the Party would be taken by Ramiz Alia, who would, by 1990, adopt revisionism and dissolve the PLA in 1991, replacing it with the bourgeois Socialist Party of Albania.
Ideology
The Party of Labor of Albania adhered to a firm anti-revisionist stance grounded in Marxist–Leninist thought, termed by some as "Hoxhaism" after its First Secretary.
