Marxism
Marxism is the name given to a set of ideas, theories, and political ideologies that developed out of the works of Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels. After Marx's death, the term Marxism came to describe a holistic worldview that included theories of philosophy, history, politics, economics, and science.
Since its inception in the 19th century, "classical" Marxism was developed into a number of different schools of thought as new conditions, namely the rise of capitalism-imperialism, demanded advancements in revolutionary theory. The most prominent of these schools is Marxism–Leninism, the official state ideology of the Soviet Union (one of the first socialist states).
