Nazi Germany, officially the German Reich from 1933 to 1943 and the Greater German Reich from 1943 to 1945 was a totalitarian national socialist state that existed from 1933 to 1945 under the rule of Adolf Hitler.
Under Hitler's rule, the country started World War II and the Holocaust which led to the genocide of 6 million Jews. The state officially ceased to exist in May 1945 after the Red Army entered Berlin on May 2nd and Germany's capituation 6 days later.
