Enver Halil Hoxha (16 October 1908 – 11 April 1985) was an Albanian Marxist–Leninist politician and revolutionary who served as First Secretary of the Party of Labor of Albania from 1941 to his death in 1985, and de-facto head of state of Albania from 1944 to his death. He was the twenty-second prime minister of Albania from 1944 to 1954 and at various times served as his own foreign minister and defense minister.
A major anti-revisionist author, he has written dozens of works attacking perceived revisionism and opportunism, including Titoism, Maoism, and Khrushchevism. He is considered a defender of Joseph Stalin's legacy against revisionist condemnations. For these reasons, he is upheld by many anti-revisionists (often known as "Hoxhaists" as a major disciple of Leninism in an era of widespread opportunism in the international communist movement.
