The Communist Party of the Soviet Union[a] (CPSU), also known as the Soviet Communist Party or Bolshevik Party was a Marxist–Leninist communist party. It has its origins in the Russian Social Democratic Labor Party (Bolshevik), founded at the Prague Conference in 1912. The CPSU was the ruling party of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics for its entire existence.
