Symbol of the Fourth International, a major Trotskyist organization.

Trotskyism is a tendency which is based on the political views of Leon Trotsky, who was a member of the Bolshevik Party until 1927, and was eventually exiled from the Soviet Union in 1929. Trotskyism was founded in the context of ideological struggle with the Marxism–Leninism of Joseph Stalin ("Stalinism"), and as such is staunchly anti-Stalinist. It rejects socialism in one country and advocates its own rendition of permanent revolution.
