Mao Zedong Thought (MZT) also romanized as Mao Tsetung Thought, is the formulation of Marxism–Leninism to Chinese conditions made by Mao Zedong in the early-to-mid 20th century. It has represented the historical ideology of the Communist Party of China.
Despite initially being developed for China alone, Mao Zedong Thought had seen worldwide adoption by various communist parties. Modern Maoists regard Mao Zedong's thought as having universal aspects to it which would be developed into their modern ideology.
