People's democracy was a form of government in many newly-formed socialist states after World War II. It involved the alliance of multiple classes and even political parties under the leadership of the proletariat through the communist party. It was formed after an anti-fascist people's democratic revolution. This system was considered a predecessor to a conventional dictatorship of the proletariat.
