Revolupedia[a] was a communist MediaWiki site which was inspired by Leftypedia. Revolupedia existed between 22 June 2024 to 22 February 2026. It was initially founded as a part of the Red Spectre organization but would become independent in 2025, free to determine its own ideological line on the basis of its own community.

Revolupedia, in contrast to Leftypedia, was strongly sectarian. Its ideological line changed several times, from the RS' iteration of "anti-revisionism" to "Hoxhaism" and then Maoism. After its founder abandoned Maoism in 2026, a split in the editorship resulted in the site being destroyed.

Comparison with Leftypedia

Revolupedia was inspired by Leftypedia, but took on a very different direction. Instead of Leftypedia's position of left-unity, Revolupedia was very sectarian and rarely employed neutral language, regarding most tendencies (including eventually Hoxhaism itself) as "revisionist" or "rightist". Instead of generating original discourse and ideological discussion, it actively restricted the editor team to staunch Hoxhaists or, eventually, Gonzaloists, banning those who violated this line for "ideological deviations". Revolupedia relied heavily on direct quotations from the "classics of Marxism",[b] and even created an archive of works by these classics, something Leftypedia does not do.[2]

Notes

  1. Self-described as the people's encyclopedia.
  2. By the end of the site's existence, it regarded "Marx, Engels, Lenin, Stalin, Mao, and Gonzalo" as the classical theorists.[1]
